NEW CHICAGO-LAND WEDDING BUSINESSspacer (1K)

Business booms in Chicago’s NW suburbs, where Rev Pam announces the expansion of her already successful wedding chapel business, which she operates out of her home. The sister business will be called Day-of Coordinator for Weddings & Social Events, and will be overseen by Rev Pam. The business will reach out through the Chicagoland area to assist couples who have planned their own weddings and need day-of management during the wedding and reception, while the couple is obviously “busy”.

Rev Pam will also make her custom florist services available, making most of the bridal bouquets and bridal party flowers herself.

The new website:http://Day-OfCoordination.com launched October 15, 2015. The home-office for the business will be located at Pine Manor 401 S Pine St in Mt Prospect, IL where the officiant has been providing in-home style wedding ceremonies in her 1920’s Dutch Colonial and backyard garden since 2011.

The expansion of her wedding business to include the new company’s day-of coordination services seemed like a natural progression from the wedding planning and day-off coordination she already has done for years in her home, Pine Manor Chicago Weddings.  “It’s time I shared my experience and discount wedding partners outside my Pine Manor clientele.
Rev Pam has made strategics partnerships with what she feels are the best wedding vendors in Chicagoloand. Couple’s can go down the list and plan their entire wedding from this one page.

Over the past 30 years, Rev Pam has seen it all. A certified wedding officiant, and retired Chicago advertising producer, Pam Magnuson plans and manages day-of for hundreds of weddings, and social events every year. She comes highly recommended with dozens upon dozens of 5 Star reviews and has won awards for her service and attention to detail. She’s quick on her feet, and without even a mention to the couple, any hiccup will be managed and solved. It’s this the kind of person you want to implement the plans you have worked so hard on? Chicago Gay Rapper Milan Christopher

milan christopher chicago gay rapper

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) – An openly gay Chicago rapper says it’s time to change hip hop. However, his music world is openly unaccepting of his lifestyle.

And as FOX 32’s Darlene Hill reports, Milan Christopher is out to change that.

“One of the funniest comments I hear from ladies is that he’s too fine to be gay. And I’m like, what does that mean?” Christopher said.

Sick of the comments and sick of the secret life, that’s why the Chicago native says he signed on with a cable reality show that highlights his relationship with another up and coming male rapper.

“There’s never been a successful openly gay black rapper so it was hard thinking, am I going to be successful when I came out. So I did have a time when I was actually playing straight,” Christopher said.

Christopher has appeared in videos for Kanye, the Game and Beyoncé, and is said to be a major player in the hip hop industry.

He says he kept his two year relationship with Miles Brock a secret because they were afraid of the backlash from rappers and fans who buy hip hop records.

Afraid of the hate, the slurs and afraid of being “out” in a world that’s been historically homophobic, Christopher says gay relationships like his will force hip hop to make a liberal, accepting change.

“It made room for people who weren’t thugs, not standing on street corners and not living that hard core thug life. Although, I am from 77th & Hermitage, which is considered the killer ward of Chicago, don’t get it twisted,” Christopher said.

Christopher and Brock’s relationship is working on and off the screen, and while they’re given equal time as their straight counterparts, this is the first time viewers have seen this kind of black love on TV.   See the clip on FOX

DUET WITH KRISTIN CHENOWETH AT CHICAGO THEATRE SATURDAY  October 24th

“I can’t believe I’m actually writing this…

Last spring, through the wonders of twitter, Kristin Chenoweth let me know that she liked my music. Crazy. This past week, I jokingly tweeted at her and said “Hey! When you’re in Chicago this Saturday, I’ll play Fool Me Once on the piano while you sing!” Didn’t think anything of it. That night, she messaged me privately and asked if I would sing “For Good” with her on stage. After MUCH deliberation (I screamed and jumped up and down on my bed at 1AM) I said YES.

I have looked up to Kristin, sung her music, and adored her performances in tv shows for years. She has been so kind to me about my songwriting, and she tells me to keep pushing forward. I try my hardest not to do this for the validation…it’s a constant struggle…but it’s so nice to get little pushes and words of encouragement like this along the way. So, thanks to her, I’m ready to put myself out there again with a new video today.” (Say Love).

“Say Love” was supposed to be a chapter from the very beginning of the anthology, but that relationship ended. The song has taken on a new meaning and life for me since then, and I’m so glad my friends encouraged me to release it anyway.

I’m incredibly grateful to director Bradley Bischoff for having a vision and pushing me out of my comfort zone. To Yuri Lysoivanov and students for tracking at Flashpoint Tribeca. To Brian Allison for laying down guitar. To Paula Heckenast for hair and makeup. I’m most grateful to actor Gabe Ruiz. We had just become friends a few weeks before, but he didn’t hesitate when I asked him to do a shoot at sunrise in the middle of Lake Michigan. It was SO COLD. Gabe had my back the whole time.

JESS GODWIN  DECEMBER 4 SHOW

Don’t forget to grab your ticket for the December 4 show. Why not do it today? I’m going to performing all of the songs from the past year live for the first (maybe the last?) time!

FYI – I would like to give a shout out to one of our newest sponsors! We have used them and feel they are one of the best cleaning services in Chicago!

LGBT Friendly Personal Trainers

chicago-gay-personal-trainers-2

The gym I go to is about 10%  gay.

And out of 10 trainers, I know one male trainer is gay.

I know that only because someone who trained with him, told me! Some of the other trainers at my gym might be LGBT friendly….but how does one know?  I don’t want to work with some obnoxious testosterone filled male jock who has a thing against gay people.

If you’re going to invest time, money, and trust in a person to guide you in the right direction, then you need to make the right choice. If you want to find the perfect person to help you, then you’re right to be picky. Choose a trainer who will cater to your personal needs and learning preferences. While some people want to be pushed to their limits by a drill sergeant type, others are going to work better with positive reinforcement and gentle encouragement. Your trainer should fit your personality and motivation style.

Chicago entrepreneur Sam Provenzano launched Right Fit For You (RightFitForYou.com). He says, “I just really felt that there was a need for Right Fit for You. The client/trainer relationship is very intimate. Personal Trainers not only help their clients get into tip-top shape, but many of them become a client’s friend and someone they confide in and trust. If you aren’t comfortable and can’t truly be yourself with your Personal Trainer, chances are you will not reach your full potential.”

Right Fit for You, is the premiere LGBT-Friendly Personal Trainer Referral Service!

Right Fit for You wasn’t solely created because of a fear of running into a close minded Personal Trainer, but because I wanted to provide the LGBT community with an online marketplace of Personal Trainers that the LGBT community can relate to– no questions asked, no insecurities. At the end of the day, Right Fit for You is all about ensuring a comfortable personal training atmosphere for the LGBT community from beginning to end. Every certified Personal Trainer profiled on Right Fit for You will not only will help you get into shape, but will also identify as LGBT or as a straight ally to the community.

Although our focus is primarily geared toward the LGBT community — anyone is welcome to utilize Right Fit for You as a means to find the right Personal Trainer who will fit all of their needs and budget. So whether you are just starting to work out or looking to gain some muscle or lose a few pounds, Right Fit For You can help!

Caitlyn Jenner in Chicago Nov. 12th

chicago house bruce jenner

Caitlyn Jenner, Olympian and recent winner of the 2015 Arthur Ashe Courage Award, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 7th annual Chicago House Speaker Series luncheon, being held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue, Thursday, November 12th, from 11:30 am – 2 pm.

Now in its 30th year, Chicago House is the Midwest’s oldest provider of housing for those impacted by HIV/AIDS and/or LGBTQ marginalization, and is now home to the nation’s most comprehensive social service and support programs for transgender individuals, the TransLife Center.

The Chicago House Speaker Series luncheon brings awareness to the agency’s founding mission, domestic and global HIV and AIDS activism, as well as its new strategic focus, combating LGBTQ poverty and marginalization, while celebrating the accomplishments Chicago House has achieved locally and raising funds to support the more than 1,800 men, women and children they serve.

This year’s Speaker Series will be especially effective at highlighting the marginalization and suffering disproportionately experienced by transgender individuals. Offending the values of fairness and equity, transgender men and women face enormous intertwining barriers to stability due to discrimination, societal and family rejection, and pervasive hostility. More than a quarter of transgender persons reports having lost a job due to their gender identity and more than half reports having difficulty finding a job because of their identity.

LKH Management (LKH), the group behind Lake View’s Hydrate, Halsted’s Bar & Grill, Replay, Elixir and VII, have now opened  a  REPLAY  ANDERSONVILLE  and  ELIXIR  ANDERSONVILLE!

Located at 5358 N. Clark (at Balmoral), Replay Andersonville will serve as a restaurant, bar and arcade, offering Contemporary American cuisine, 26 craft tap beers and an extensive premium bourbon selection. The 2,300-square foot venue features reclaimed wood, exposed brick and 144 seats, including the bar, restaurant and outdoor patio. A  huge very cool mural in the arcade, which was created by local artist David Andora, reflects the venue’s playful vibe, which invites guests to linger, and enjoy three popular pinball games or 25 complimentary vintage video games, such as Ms. Pac Man, Dig Dug and Galaga.

Unlike its sister location in Lake View, Replay Andersonville will serve food, showcasing innovative and distinctive daily lunch and dinner, and weekend brunch items.

Diners can expect fresh, high-quality ingredients and big, bold flavors. An extensive list of weekend breakfast and brunch options run the gamut from sweet to savory, while lunch and dinner offer something for everyone, including signature salads, sandwiches and innovative build-your-own burgers. The restaurant will also feature weekly specials, late-night dining options and a children’s menu.

Chefs Bernardo Ibarra and Steve Farbstein, formerly of Chicago’s Girl and the Goat and Luxbar, respectively, will helm the kitchen. The menu includes classic American comfort dishes with a modern twist, elevating ordinary dishes by using unexpected flavor combinations and textures, including: hickory-smoked meatloaf, cornmeal fried chicken, and seasonal steak and pasta dishes. Some personal Chef favorites include: a Berkshire Pork Chop; Grass-fed Natural Flat Iron Steak; and Bacon Waffles with Black Pepper Butter, Sea Salt & Black Cherry Bourbon Syrup. All dishes will be made in-house, using sustainably raised and locally sourced ingredients when possible. Fresh pressed juice will serve as a nutritious start to the day or make a great addition to a brunch cocktail.

“We’re not only excited about the food we prepare, but also passionate about the people we prepare it for,” said Chef Steve. “We want guests to enjoy themselves, explore the menu and try something new, combining the familiar with the unexpected. Replay’s combination of innovative food, craft beer, premium bourbon and old school arcade games creates an environment that takes you back to your formative years. This one-night engagement production will take place on Worlds AIDS Day – December 1, 2015 – and all net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Artists Giving Back’s philanthropic partner in and beneficiary of the production.

Additionally, Artists Giving Back is thrilled to announce that LGBT singer/songwriter superstar and Chicagoland native, Steve Grand, will be joining the cast as a special featured guest artist.  Mr. Grand, singer of the viral sensation “All-American Boy,” released his independent debut album, also titled “All-American Boy,” in March of 2015, which landed the #3 spot on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. Mr. Grand will perform “Seasons of Love” during the production, and will attend the RENT cast-and-audience after party, which will be hosted by Progress Bar (3359 N. Halsted, Chicago).

When addressing the choice of RENT for Artists Giving Back’s inaugural production, Artistic Director Peter Ruger had this to say: “Rent is a show that has inspired me for years.  The passion of the music and the story, and the connection I felt to the wonderful characters brought me not only to the fight against AIDS, but also helped guide me to my life as a singer.  I’m so excited that we at Artists Giving Back are getting to share this amazing show with Chicago to celebrate World AIDS Day 2015.  I hope it touches our audience as much as it’s touched me over the years.”

Artists Giving Back’s World AIDS Day RENT will take place at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets can buy them from the Athenaeum Theatre’s website, www.athenaeumtheatre.org, under “buy tickets.”

About Artists Giving Back:

Artists Giving Back is a Chicago-based startup nonprofit founded by local performers and professionals who feel that the arts are a perfect vehicle for advancing philanthropic and charitable endeavors. Artists Giving Back’s mission statement proclaims:

We believe in philanthropy through self-expression and creativity. Through the production of art in all its forms—music, dance, drama, visual—we aim to support artists and our community. Artists Giving Back is an opportunity to interact with our community through the healing power of art.

Artists Giving Back aims to enrich the community in two primary ways: first, by providing quality artistic experiences to the public, and second, by donating all proceeds raised from its productions and artistic endeavors to local charities. While a new organization – Artists Giving Back was incorporated as a nonprofit in February 2015 – Artists Giving Back is proud to say that it is already full steam ahead on its inaugural production of RENT. More information about Artists Giving Back can be found on its website, www.artistsgivingback.org.

The production of Artists Giving Back World AIDS Day RENT is entirely funded by tax-deductible donations from individuals and organizations. Anyone interested in donating to Artists Giving Back can do so through the Artists Giving Back website.

College Football player from Barrington Comes OUT

barrington-football-player-comes-out-GAY

One of college football’s oldest programs has its first openly gay player.

Princeton offensive lineman Mason Darrow told Outsports.com in a story posted on Tuesday that he is gay. Darrow, of Lake Barrington said everything has gone well at home and school since he came out to his teammates and coaches.

“People will surprise you,” he said. “I was definitely concerned that people, teammates, would react poorly. I think in this day and age people really just don’t care about it. It’s really not a big deal anymore.”

Darrow is believed to be the only openly gay player in major college football right now. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound junior is expected to play in the Tigers’ opener Saturday at Lafayette.
