DIRECT FROM HER 4000TH SHOW
ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP

DRAG SENSATION    EDIE!

ONE NIGHT ONLY!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18th

@ DAVENPORTS PIANO BAR & CABARET

On a break from her ten-show-per-week schedule as the emcee of one of Las Vegas’ hottest shows, drag sensation EDIE brings her solo show to Davenports for one night only!

EDIE just celebrated her 4000th show as the Mistress of Sensuality in Cirque du Soleil’s ZUMANITY. After 8 years in the role, the gender-bending entertainer has performed for more than 3 million people.

On August 18, the leggy showgirl will sing and dance her way through a high octane hour of original songs and standards all with her signature 60s go-go style. Add her famous high-kickin choreography, stories from her new life in Sin City, and her witty, off-the-cuff audience banter and you have the reason the San Francisco Chronicle “strongly advises seeing the incredible EDIE whose talent and legs go on forever.”

A native of Portland, OR, EDIE began her professional dance career at the age of 17 with Ballet Oregon. For the next eleven years she danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and Pennsylvania Ballet before moving to New York to pursue musical theater. EDIE quickly became a fixture in New York City where she racked up a bevy of awards including Best Drag Queen (HX Award), Best Dance Artist and Entertainer of the Year (Glammy Award). NEVERLAND Market Days Party Aug 12

neverland chicago
NEVERLAND CELEBRATES MARKET DAYS WITH ITS MOST EXTRAVAGENT EVENT EVER – “IMPERIAL HAREM”

Neverland, the Chicago-based dance producer known for its elaborate themes and production, is celebrating Market Days this year with its most extravagant event ever. Drawing inspiration from the costumes, the story, and the men of the blockbuster film, 300, IMPERIAL HAREM will take place Friday, August 12th at Metro (3730 N Clark St, Chicago).  Mexico City-based DJ Alex Acosta will headline the event; his first time headlining since spinning the very first Market Days Neverland three years ago.  Chicago DJ Alex Cabot will open and Imp Queen, Nico and Sara Andrews will host.  $40 early bird tickets to IMPERIAL HAREM are available now at www.NeverlandMarketDays.com.

“Market Days is even bigger than Pride in Chicago so we’re making this party more epic than anything we’ve done before,” proclaims Anthony DiFiore, Neverland’s founder and Creative Director. DiFiore is drawing inspiration for the night from a recent trip to Jerusalem where he learned how years of Ottoman rule left its imprint on the city.  “We’re going to experiment with a lot of cool ancient Persian and Ottoman elements that complement Metro’s massive steel stage,” he says.

At last year’s Market Days, DiFiore and his creative team celebrated Mayan Aztec culture with their “Origins” event, transforming Circuit Nightclub into a jungle complete with palm trees, a pyramid, and performers in colorful headdresses.  This year’s party takes Neverland back to the opulent Metro, the former concert hall world-renowned for its large stage and high ceilings.

Designers are building a structure of steel bars that will create an interactive platform loaded with lights and special effects devices. “There aren’t any gay parties in the U.S. that utilize truss the way we do,” adds DiFiore.

Market Days is the popular Chicago festival with stages, live bands and DJs during the day, followed by late-night dance parties.  Neverland’s IMPERIAL HAREM is the official Friday night main event.

“Today’s Neverland is like a Studio 54-style party,” says DiFiore.   “What sets our team apart is that our artists are true set and costume designers who are working with Neverland to showcase their talents.”

For tickets and additional information, visit www.NeverlandMarketDays.com.   Ticket Prices: $41/$51 and $60 at door.  Hard copy tickets available at Egoist Underwear (3526 N Halsted) in Boystown.

The show

Inspired by James Cameron’s AVATARTORUK – The First Flight transports you to the world of Pandora in a visually stunning live setting. Experience a storytelling odyssey through a new world of imagination, discovery, and possibility.

Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.

This live immersive experience also bears the distinct signature of directors and multimedia innovators Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon. It is a living ode to the Na’vi’s symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things.

Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, TORUK – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.

When a natural catastrophe threatens to destroy the sacred Tree of Souls, Ralu and Entu, two Omaticaya boys on the brink of adulthood, fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands. Upon learning that Toruk can help them save the Tree of Souls, they set out, together with their newfound friend Tsyal, on a quest high up in the Floating Mountains to find the mighty red and orange predator that rules the Pandoran sky. Prophecy is fulfilled when a pure soul rises among the clans to ride Toruk for the first time and save the Na’vi from a terrible fate.
