Borders and Bankruptcy – Six Stores to Close

SAD BUT TRUE…
BORDERS START CLOSING DOWN.

Borders Books and Music is in fact filing bankruptcy and this means bad news for Chi-town bookworms—but potentially good news for those who are into electronics. (HHGregg is coming to Chicago and taking over some of the Borders stores.)

Borders has almost 30 stores in Chicago, the surrounding suburbs, and nearby Indiana. Of the more than 200 nationally that will be closing, 6 are in Chicago proper: 6103 N Lincoln, 4718 N Broadway, 755 W North, 2817 N Clark, 1539 E 53rd, 2210 W 95th.

The only Borders Superstore location to remain open in this spree of closures is the store adjacent to Block 37, Macy’s, and the now vacant Loehmann’s at the well traveled intersection of State Street and Randolph.

Kenneth Cole closed it’s Michigan Ave. location recently but yet, TED BAKER opened on Rush last week!
