SAGE Chicago Event June 10th

sage gay chicago

WE ALL GET OLD.  And we need to have respect for those before us,  who fought  for some of the rights we have today,  and where we have gotten to.

SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of  LGBTQ aging people.

SAGE offers innovative services and programs to LGBT older people nationwide—throughout New York City and through our national affiliate program, SAGENet. From arts and culture, to health and wellness, and much more, SAGE’s innovative services and programs support thousands of LGBT older people in communities around the country. Additionally, SAGE’s leading programs—such as SAGEWorks, our employment program for LGBT older people—are often expanded into various sites around the country.

On Friday, June 10th, the Chicago Steering Committee of SAGE will host its annual SAGE & Friends event. This annual affair provides a great opportunity to engage SAGE’s Chicagoland area supporters – individual and corporate donors, community partners, and policy advocates – in a fun event that showcases and supports the work which SAGE is advancing on a national level and in the Midwest. SAGE will be honoring Congressman Mike Quigley at the event.  $50, open nbar  and  appetizers.   June 10, 2016
5:30 – 6:30 PM ,  Wyndham Grand Hotel,  71 E Wacker Drive, downtown Chicago!

As the voice for LGBT older adults, SAGE works across the country to advocate for public policy changes that will improve the economic security, community support and health and wellness of LGBT elders.  We partner with policy makers, agency heads and members of Congress, to ensure that policies and laws are inclusive of and support LGBT older adults.

Ageneau
.  Ageneau spent his youth in France and at the age of eighteen
set out on a whirlwind culinary tour working for some of the world’s top
chefs in France, London, Los Angeles and Chicago.  Taking cues from his
French heritage, Ageneau brings a sense of whimsy to some of his
favorite traditional dishes. It truly is like a fabulous step into Paris  France, without getting on a plane!

Affordable and so delicious! $11- $20. Eggs Benedict, Norwegian
Benedict, Eggs Florentine, Parisian Crepes, Chocolate French Toast and
on and on! So many choices.  Flavors and tastes are amazing  and
service is always  impeccable.

While I love the Lobster soft scrambled eggs – black truffled – a
variation I believe of the  dinner Lobster Crostini  – get one and share
it. It’s delicious – and rich.

While brunches are made for Bloody Marys – I still like my afternoon
white wine. I was pleasantly surprised at all of the affordable options.
There are not many 4 or 5 star restaurants that you can order a really
great glass of wine for $8-$12.

Brunch is available  10am – 4pm.

SHY TOWN GIRLS Series of Books By Local Authors

A  group of four women authors
in Chicago were looking to share their  best tips on
the collaborative publishing process with you!

Four Shy Girls

Four Big Dreams

One Awesome City

Novel 1 in the Shy-Town Girls 4- Book Series

SHY TOWN GIRLS!

When beautiful, but shy 24-year-old, Bobbie Bertucci, arrives at her
new digs, an elegant brownstone in Chicago’s historic Gold Coast
neighborhood, she has no idea what her new life will be like. Between
balancing her job as a modeling agent and escaping a bad relationship,
she’s hit rock bottom.

But things change when she moves into the same building as her close
friend Meryl. Additionally, her two new twenty-something roommates, Ivy
and Ella, help bring Bobbie out of her shell. Barbara, landlady and
mother-hen of the house, watches out for the girls while sharing sage
advice.

Bobbie, Meryl, Ivy, and Ella, all variations of shy girls, brave the
city of Chicago together, forming a powerful bond of friendship. Their
nighttime roof deck conversations over glasses of wine instigate
laughter and even some tears.

Bobbie takes a bold step to redesign her life completely to ensure
she doesn’t fall into the romantic trap she fell into before. But
there’s a new suitor in the picture, and she will have to decide between
an old flame or a new one, taking a risk, something hard for any
girl–even harder for a shy girl.

We’re passionate about
writing and creating a technique that you can learn to use yourself or
with other writing partners.

Listen to a recent interview
with all four authors to learn how we got started on down this writing
path. We hope you’ll gain some valuable insights on writing, publishing
and marketing your own books and products. You’ll get to know each
author individually as we’ll write from our own perspectives and share
our own experiences.

Feel free to contact us for collaboration and speaking opportunities, to talk to your book club or just a drop us a line to say hello!

Gay Dating Tip – The One Exercise That’ll Help You Meet Gay Men

Meeting with gay attractive men
and striking up a conversation is probably not easy for a lot of you gay men who are just starting their relationship in this particular direction. Although, for some gay men, talking to another man and being completely comfortable enough to attract attention may not be as easy as it sounds, and you may require some help. We’ll unload some burden off your shoulder by telling you that you can make it possible and even enjoyable for yourself and in your area, it won’t be that hard to find the right guy for yourself. But of course, like anything else in life, meeting gay men will require some tips and a lot of skill.

Firstly, to build the self-confidence and demeanor that you are lacking, you need to set a few goals for yourself. For instance, you can mentally tell yourself what you hope to achieve when you set out to meet gay men one evening, whether you’re looking to make a friend or looking for a much serious relationship. Then, since you will be aware of exactly what your weaknesses are, you can focus on curbing them and bringing out the qualities of yourself that truly make you who you are. Setting such goals can truly boost the self-confidence you need to meet gay men.

But let us warn you; do not in any way, set up unreasonable goals for yourself. You know yourself the best and you know exactly what you can achieve as far as meeting gay men is concerned. You also need to keep track of what exactly you want to achieve and then, set realistic goals for yourself. If you go out to a gay bar, you may expect to meet a nice guy but don’t be bent upon meeting one and finding what you want in him.

It is always a good idea to be talkative, not talkative in an annoying way but in a charming and alluring manner that brings out your personality. Make an effort to talk freely with all men, whether you like them or not and try to make your best impression on just anyone, whether in a bar or in a party. Getting yourself to talk easily and naturally is perhaps, the easiest and biggest way to meet gay men and find the one you’re attracted to.

To be better at picking up gay men and more importantly, the ones you are attracted to, being quiet and reserved is the worst thing you can do. Taking interest in everything, making light conversation with anyone and taking an interest in everyone’s concerns is something that attracts all gay men and using that can help you attract men to yourself. Such conversational and communication techniques can be much important and perhaps even more than your clothes and hair when trying to meet attractive gay men. Remember, that there are men interested in you and it is you who has to bring yourself to their attention in the most charming manner.

Gay Chicago Fun with Big Gay Brunch Club and Venga Bus Chicago

Last month we told you about a couple of Alternative and off-the-beaten-path things to do, this month we have 2 new ones for those looking for something new and different!

BIG GAY BRUNCH CLUB was formed 1 year ago by a small group of friends looking to get together over brunch at somewhere new and different. The next month, more friends joined, and the next month their friends joined in the roving brunch gathering!

The group now has over 300 friends on their FaceBook page and about 50-70 people show up at their monthly traveling brunch.

BGBC is a GLBT networking group to meet new people in the GLBT Chicago community. Keep an eye out for events and updates like brunch, wine tasting, BBQ etc.

April 25th at 1:30pm   is the groups 1 year anniversary which will be at  Broadway Cellars, 5900 N. Broadway, the spot  where the group had their first brunch gathering!

Expect  fun people, food  and  of  course,  mimosas and bloody marys!

VENGA BUS CHICAGO is another group that started by accident.
Vengabus takes Chicago’s 21 and over fun seekers on adventures!

Doug Collins who manages a local bus tour company decided to get a group of friends together, a bunch of liquor, and shuttle everyone up to LA CAGE  in Milwaukee for an evening of fun!

Usually  $10-$20  covers the gas and the driver and bus fee.  It’s a  BYOB  party that plans to do possible getaways to places like  Six Flags, Saugatuck and maybe even somewhere over in Indy.

Doug says to join his FaceBook page  and “check out the links to our past events and watch and join our upcoming events!”

Gay Dating Online Brings Chicago Together!

Whether you are hitting the town for a wild night or you’re heading to the theater for a play or concert, doing what you enjoy is always better when you’re with someone special. Whether that someone is a friend, a companion for the evening, or someone you’ve been with for awhile, finding that exceptional someone you want to share your passions with can be hard to do in a city of Chicago’s size.

Sure, you could try gay dating the old-fashioned way and place a personals ad in the paper or you could hit up a club every weekend – but that won’t necessarily mean you’ll find the gay heart-throb or lesbian lover of your dreams. Encountering that special homosexual someone in a large city can be hard to do in a crowded club or without even seeing their picture.

In a city like Chicago you could club every night or put in a personals ad every week and still not meet the right gay or lesbian partner for you; but at a gay dating site like PrideDating, it’s a convenient way to get together with homosexual singles in your area looking for relationships, not just hookups. The right gay dating site makes it easy for you to find the right someone for you so you can forget the drama of the club scene, and forget waiting for a personals response.

Make the most of the right gay dating site and find someone near you that will make going out in the evenings fun and pleasurable. There is so much to experience in the city of Chicago – when you find that special someone near you that enjoys the same things using a gay dating site, you’ll look so forward to going out and hitting up every hot spot in town!
