EDGE ALLIANCE and AIDSCare Progressive Services are hosting the 7^th annual Bar AIDS fundraiser on Thursday, August 26, 2010. A Chicago-wide fundraiser, Bar AIDS will raise money to help the fight against HIV/AIDS.

More than thirty bars throughout the Chicagoland area will host events and donate a portion of the night’s proceeds to EdgeAlliance, supporting the housing and life progress services provided by AIDSCare Progressive services to men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Money will be raised through bar donations as well as through a citywide raffle. This raffle features $14,000 worth of prizes including two roundtrip tickets to anywhere in Mexico, Canada, or the Continental United States.

Each bar will host a unique event with DJ’s, raffles, and signature drinks provided by Effen, Lunazul, Stella Artois, and PAMA. Patrons will be able to spend the evening in one bar or purchase a city wide "Flex-Pass" granting them special access to bars throughout the city as well as one ticket to the citywide raffle.

The event is expected to not only raise money for EdgeAlliance but also help out local businesses in a difficult economy. "This is a mutually beneficial thing", according to EdgeAlliance’s VP for Finance and Development, Basil Diab, "This is a charitable cause but it also helps the bar’s business."

The money raised by Bar AIDS will go towards funding the three apartment buildings on the AIDSCare Progressive Services campus, located in North Lawndale on Chicago’s West Side. This campus provides housing and life services to over 125 individuals and families directly affected by HIV/AIDS.
