America's business community realizes the
vast economic rewards of marketing their products and services to the GLBT community. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Advertising Age have attested to the economic
potential of this evolving market.
Under 6% of gay
households have children, so gay people have more discretionary income to spend than the average family –
giving them more
per capita buying
power than most segments.

Best Gay Chicago: PAWS Chicago Walk Run Benefit September 28th
PAWS Chicago Walk Run Benefit September 28th
SUNDAY, September 28th, 9am @ Montrose Harbor 8k Run / 4k Walk
Support PAWS Chicago’s mission to build a No Kill city by running or walking for homeless animals. Bring the whole family to participate in the child and pet-friendly walk, or compete against the clock in the 8K Run.
This annual event is extremely important to raising funds for PAWS Chicago’s life-saving programs. PAWS Chicago is the city’s largest No Kill humane organization. Through a solution based approach to animal welfare, PAWS Chicago has placed Chicago on track to become a No Kill city where pets are no longer destroyed because they are homeless. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless pets euthanized per year has dropped from 42,561 to 19,701 – more than a 50 percent decrease!
Event Details Dogs are welcome to join their families to participate in the 4K walk!
Rain or shine, the 8K Run and 4K Walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Montrose Harbor.
The run and walk will take place along Chicago’s beautiful Lake Michigan.
If your pet cannot join you, bring a photo of him or her and a PAWS Chicago volunteer will make a button for you to wear.
First, second and third place male and female 8K runners will each win $250, $100 and $50 respectively. The top three winners in each age group will also receive awards.
All participants will receive a Run for Their Lives t-shirt and enjoy complimentary food, beverages and other freebies at booths hosted by event sponsors.
Prizes will be awarded to three winners of the Howl-o-ween costume contest, the annual dog and owner dress-up competition!
The Canine Carnival will include an agility course hosted by K-9 University, complimentary pet massages, an on-site animal communicator and more!
