Cirque du Soleil KOOZA Arrives in Chicago Next Week!

It all started in Baie-Saint-Paul, a small town near Quebec City, in Canada. There, in the early eighties, a band of colourful characters roamed the streets, striding on stilts, juggling, dancing, breathing fire, and playing music. They were Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul (the Baie-Saint-Paul Stiltwalkers), a street theatre group founded by Gilles Ste-Croix. Already, the townsfolk were impressed and intrigued by the young performers, including one Guy Laliberté who would later found Cirque du Soleil! The rest, as they say, is history! 10 permanent Cirque Shows and 6 touring shows, Cirque do Soleil has changed the face of entertainment!

KOOZA arrives in Chicago June 26th, for a LIMITED  run through August 10th. (There are still some good tickets available!).  -

KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.

If you have never seen a touring show of Cirque du Soleil, what is  really neat about this show is a theatre, Le Grand Chapiteau,  is built right in the parking lot of the Untied Center!    The stage is dominated by one major set element, a traveling tower called the Bataclan, which alters the configuration of the performance space as it moves.

The decoration of the Bataclan is inspired by Hindu culture, Pakistani buses and Indian jewelry.  And the surface of the stage is decorated to look like a starry sky, and in the center ring is a graphic representation of the sky in Montreal on the night of the first public performance!

A MUST SEE!   Get tickets now online!
